If you live in the PA and/or OH area's you might want to be sure and lock your bike and place it in eye shot just to be safe. There has been an alarming number of reported motorcycle thefts this year. Most of these thefts have occured in broad daylight.
One victim reported he had returned from a lunch break ride and parked in the work parkinglot. An hour later when on break he looked out to where his bike had been parked and it was gone. Thefts just like this have been taking place throughout the region. Bikes have been taken from parking lots, driveways, and garages, indicating the thieves are very bold.
Police are recommending you park in a place where you can see the bike at all times. Your bike needs to be locked and they warn that even saddlebags have been stolen off bikes when not locked. According to police it takes bike thieves less than 30 seconds for a bike to be loaded in a van and halled away.
So if you like your machine and want to keep it around a while, some extra precautions might be in order. If its occuring in two states it can happen anywhere. Don't be a victim, lock it...
